1. By taxi (easiest)
Walk out of arrivals, follow the signs for "Taxi" (not "Transfer"), and join the rank. Athens taxis are yellow, metered, and entirely safe. The drive to Porto Rafti is about 20 minutes; the fare is usually €35–45 depending on time of day and whether the driver takes the small toll road. There is no airport surcharge for short trips like this one.
Tell the driver "Πόρτο Ράφτη" (Porto Rafti) and the street name we send you with your booking. Most drivers know the area.
Ride apps
Uber and Bolt / FreeNow operate at the airport but only dispatch licensed taxis, so the cost is similar to the rank. Apps are useful if you want a confirmed price upfront. Allow a few minutes for the car to come around to the designated pickup point.
2. By rental car (best for a longer stay)
If you're staying more than three nights, rent a car. You'll use it every day: for the beach, for dinner, for day trips to Sounion or Athens. Every major company has a desk at ATH (Hertz, Avis, Sixt, Enterprise, plus several Greek operators that are often cheaper — Autoclub, Kosmos, Avance).
The drive from the airport to the villa is one straightforward 20-minute hop on Attiki Odos and provincial roads — no city driving, no tolls if you exit at Markopoulo. Parking at the villa is free and on the property.
What to know about renting in Greece
- You'll need a credit card in the driver's name and (if non-EU) an International Driving Permit alongside your home licence.
- Petrol is "βενζίνη", diesel is "ντίζελ". Cards work at most stations.
- Speed limits: 50 km/h in towns, 90 km/h on country roads, 130 km/h on motorways. Speed cameras are real.
3. By public bus (cheapest)
The KTEL Attikis bus runs from the airport to Markopoulo (the nearest town inland) and on to Porto Rafti. It's the cheapest option — usually €2–4 — but the schedule is sparse outside peak hours and the last stop is the town centre, so you'll still need a 5-minute taxi to the villa.
We recommend the bus only if you're travelling light, on a budget, and arriving during the day.
What we send you the day before
Once your booking is confirmed, we'll send a short PDF the day before arrival with the exact address (in English and Greek), a pinned map link, the key-box code for self check-in, and the Wi-Fi password. If anything's unclear, message us on WhatsApp — we usually reply within an hour.
The single most useful piece of advice: don't book an airport "private transfer" service unless you really want fixed pricing. A normal yellow taxi is half the price and gets you there just as fast.← Back to all guides
